Kim Un-nam, Chairman of Goyang City Council, Elected as Chairman of the Special City Council Chairmen Association

Kim Unam, Chairperson of Goyang Special City Council (center), is taking a commemorative photo after being elected as the Chairperson of the Association of Special City Council Chairpersons of the Republic of Korea.

The Goyang Special City Council in Gyeonggi announced on the 3rd that Chairman Kim Un-nam was elected as the Chairman of the Korea Special City Council Chairpersons' Association at the 23rd regular meeting held in Changwon on the 2nd.

Attending the regular meeting were Kim Un-nam, Chairman of the Goyang City Council; Lee Jae-sik, Chairman of the Suwon City Council; Yoo Jin-sun, Chairman of the Yongin City Council; Son Tae-hwa, Chairman of the Changwon City Council; and Bae Jeong-su, Chairman of the Hwaseong City Council.

Notably, this meeting was held to elect the chairman and spokesperson who will lead the Korea Special City Council Chairpersons' Association for two years. Kim Un-nam, Chairman of the Goyang City Council, was elected as chairman, and Bae Jeong-su, Chairman of the Hwaseong City Council, was elected as spokesperson.

Additionally, a status report on the Korea Special City Council Chairpersons' Association was presented, and discussions were held regarding a petition urging the amendment of the "Public Audit Act" to establish independent audit bodies within local councils and to provide grounds for appointing and dismissing heads of audit bodies and audit officers.

Chairman Kim Un-nam stated, "As I have been elected as the chairman to lead the Korea Special City Council Chairpersons' Association for two years, I will take responsibility and strive to secure practical authority through in-depth discussions on common issues by fostering cooperation among the five special city councils."

The "Korea Special City Council Chairpersons' Association" consists of the chairpersons of the city councils of Goyang, Suwon, Yongin, Changwon, and Hwaseong, all metropolitan cities with populations exceeding one million. The association holds regular meetings every two months and has been conducting various activities to discover and enhance the authority of special city councils.
