This exhibition commemorates the launch of the "Nakdong River Council," which was established to promote mutual cooperation between local governments centered around the Nakdong River. It aims to comprehensively shed light on the history and culture of the Nakdong River in Yangsan, the central city of the council, in order to foster citizens' interest and pride.

The special exhibition is divided into three sections, introducing the history and culture of Yangsan and the Nakdong River.

The first section explores historical records of the Nakdong River, allowing visitors to understand, through literature and maps, the transition from its former name Hwangsan River to Nakdong River. The second section highlights Yangsan's historical and cultural heritage formed along the Nakdong River. The third section examines the lifestyles of people who have lived in the Nakdong River basin in modern and contemporary times, as well as the cultural homogeneity shared by those in the lower reaches of the river.

At this exhibition, visitors can view the historical and cultural materials of the Nakdong River that Yangsan City Museum has collected over many years all in one place. More than 200 items will be on display, including major state-owned relics excavated along the Nakdong River, collections and old maps related to the river, modern and contemporary lifestyle materials, as well as river-related models and videos.

In particular, for the first time, the graduation album of Wondong Elementary School, which includes a school song set against the backdrop of the Nakdong River during the Japanese colonial period, will be introduced. Visitors can also vividly experience the appearance of the Nakdong River flowing through Yangsan before modernization and the lives of people at that time through director Jeon Changgeun's film "Nakdong River" (1925), filmed around the Gayajin Yongso area. Additionally, artifacts excavated from the Dabandong Shell Mound, known as one of the three major shell mounds in Yeongnam, will be unveiled to the public for the first time.

Furthermore, the exhibition hall features recreated spaces of a ferry dock and a tavern, allowing visitors to experience the lively scenes of goods and people coming and going in old Yangsan. This is expected to evoke nostalgia for adults and offer a unique emotional experience for the younger generation.

Director Shin Yongcheol said, "This exhibition highlights the impact of the Nakdong River on the Yangsan region and its importance as a source of abundance. I hope it will also provide an opportunity to consider a sustainable future through the Nakdong River. We ask for the active viewing and participation of our citizens."
