The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 3rd that a total of 1,554 cases were finally approved as victims of jeonse fraud as of last September.

Last month, the Ministry held five plenary meetings of the 'Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Committee' to review 2,531 cases, and a total of 1,554 cases were finally approved as victims of jeonse fraud. There were 506 rejections, 299 cases excluded from application, and 172 appeals dismissed.

The 299 cases were excluded from the application requirements because the full deposit refund was possible through guarantee insurance and priority repayment funds. The 506 cases were rejected due to failure to meet the requirements.

Among the 2,531 cases submitted, there were a total of 287 appeals. Of these, 115 cases were re-examined and re-approved as victims or related victims after additional verification of eligibility.

So far, the committee has finally approved a total of 22,503 cases as victims of jeonse fraud. A total of 894 cases were approved for urgent suspension of public auction cooperation requests, and a total of 17,234 supports including housing, finance, and legal procedures are being provided to the decided victims.

Tenants experiencing difficulties due to jeonse fraud can apply for victim determination at the city or provincial office with jurisdiction over their residence.

Those determined as victims through the committee's resolution can receive detailed guidance on support measures through the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) Jeonse Damage Support Center and its branches.
