BPA Begins Full-scale Production of Domestic Automated Cargo Handling Equipment for New Port Phase 2-6

Steel Cutting Ceremony Held for Seokon Transfer Crane Manufacturing and Installation Project

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) held a steel cutting ceremony on the 2nd to begin manufacturing domestic automated cargo handling equipment for the 2-6 phase terminal at the Busan New Port West Container, following the 2-5 phase.

The steel cutting ceremony, which marks the official start of equipment production, was attended by Lee Sangkwon, Head of Construction Division at Busan Port Authority, Kim Jinho, Vice President of KR Engineering, Heo Jeonggu, Shipyard Director at HJ Heavy Industries, and other officials.


This project is being promoted by BPA to install domestic automated cargo handling equipment at the 2-6 phase of the Busan New Port West Container Terminal, aiming to advance smart port infrastructure and lead the future port paradigm.


Going forward, a total of 34 transfer cranes will be manufactured and are scheduled to be fully installed at the 2-6 phase terminal of Busan New Port West Container by the end of June 2027.


Lee Sangkwon, Head of Construction Division at BPA, said, "We will successfully introduce fully automated cargo handling equipment based on domestic technology at the 2-6 phase terminal of Busan New Port West Container, actively contributing to the development of domestic heavy industries and revitalization of the local economy."
