Concrete Action Plans Derived Through Nakdong River Region Development Strategy Study
The Nakdong River Council, an administrative council comprising six local governments in Gyeongnam (Yangsan, Gimhae) and Busan (Buk-gu, Saha-gu, Gangseo-gu, Sasang-gu), chaired by Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon, held its 2nd regular meeting at 2 p.m. on the 30th of last month in the seminar room of the Yangsan Business Center.
The meeting was attended by Nakdong River Council members: Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon, Gimhae Mayor Hong Taeyong, Buk-gu Mayor Oh Taewon, Saha-gu Mayor Lee Gapjun, Gangseo-gu Mayor Kim Hyeongchan, and Sasang-gu Mayor Cho Byeonggil. As the term of the 1st chairman, Na Dongyeon, ended on December 31, a new chairman was elected during the session.
Recognizing Chairman Na Dongyeon's leadership in laying the foundation for the Nakdong River Council, promoting various collaborative projects, and actively facilitating exchanges among the six local governments, the members unanimously nominated him as the 2nd chairman. As a result, Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon will continue to serve as chairman of the Nakdong River Council in 2025, following his term in 2024.
Through the implementation of the "Nakdong River Basin Development Strategy Research Service," the council agreed to foster consensus on the projects of the six local governments by engaging in communication and consultation with central government agencies, presenting waterfront guidelines, and developing concrete measures for the advancement of the six municipalities in the Nakdong River basin. In addition, the council finalized the major business plan and budget proposal for 2025.
During the additional discussion session, the council confirmed its new CI, which symbolizes "Nakdong River, cooperation, and sustainability," to visually communicate the council's goals and values to citizens and convey its role and significance. Starting in October, the CI will be used in various promotional materials and documents of all six local governments.
Na Dongyeon, chairman of the Nakdong River Council and mayor of Yangsan, stated, "We will actively pursue the various plans and opinions derived from this regular meeting to promote the sustainable development of the Nakdong River basin and improve the quality of life for residents, and we will strive to achieve tangible results."
