Elizabeth Olsen, Recently Moved to UK with Husband
Expresses Fear Amid Ongoing Large-Scale Gun Violence
Famous Hollywood actress Elizabeth Olsen recently confessed that she left the United States and moved to the United Kingdom. The reason was fear due to a series of large-scale mass shootings in the US.
Olsen revealed in an interview with the British daily newspaper The Guardian on the 29th of last month (local time) that she moved to London, UK, with her husband. Based in Hollywood, she previously lived in a village in Northern California, USA.
The background for her decision to move was 'guns.' She felt fear as mass shootings continued to occur in the US. She confessed, "I had nightmares about being shot and killed," adding, "I felt cold blood running down my head, and there was only darkness."
There was also a personal motive. Olsen appeared in the 2022 Marvel Cinematic movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and it is reported that she had a good experience in London at that time. The film was produced in several studios across the UK, including London, Surrey, and Somerset.
She emphasized, "I arrived (in central London) last night and felt comfort the moment I had coffee outside this morning," adding, "There is violence everywhere in this world, and no place is perfect. But here, I feel peace."
Meanwhile, according to a study released earlier this month by the Gun Violence Prevention Center at Johns Hopkins University, gun incidents across the US are increasingly emerging as a serious social problem. Mass shootings have been one of the leading causes of death among children and adolescents for three consecutive years.

The Gun Violence Prevention Center analyzed that in 2022, 2,526 people aged 1 to 17 lost their lives due to guns. This means that on average, seven people per day were killed by firearms. Additionally, the rate of gun use among adolescents doubled between 2013 and 2022.
Gun control is also a recurring issue in US politics. In a TV debate on the 1st between Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, and Republican candidate Senator J.D. Vance, both sides clashed over how to respond to school shootings.
Senator Vance argued that school security should be strengthened to protect children from gun violence, while Governor Walz countered that regulating guns is the fundamental solution.
