Mybi Co., Ltd., a transportation card specialist company headquartered in Busan, and Samwon FA, a company specializing in the manufacturing and development of transportation card terminals, have signed an agreement to jointly research, develop, and distribute a next-generation transportation card system utilizing AI technology.
Mybi and Samwon FEA are signing an agreement to develop the next-generation transportation card system.
The next-generation transportation card system being developed by the two companies will incorporate various payment methods such as tagless and QR codes to maximize convenience for citizens using public transportation.
In addition, to proactively address the social issue of climate change, the companies plan to develop bus information displays powered by solar energy, low-power transportation card systems, and implement a citizen participation platform aimed at reducing carbon emissions, thereby contributing to Busan City's goal of achieving a "2050 Carbon Neutral City."
The newly developed next-generation transportation card system will be expanded and distributed not only in Busan but also nationwide in areas where the Mybi transportation card system is implemented, and the companies will cooperate in globalizing the system through exports.
The two companies have also agreed to provide exclusive technical support related to the manufacturing and supply of transportation card terminals established by Mybi, thereby building the highest level of cooperation and a mutually beneficial relationship.
Hong Wonpyo, CEO of Samwon FA, stated, "Since the late 1990s, starting with the Busan Hanaro Card project, we have worked alongside Mybi throughout the 27-year history of Busan's transportation card system. We have developed the ITS industry, which was previously concentrated in the metropolitan area, in Busan, allowing us to become a leading company in nationwide transportation fare payment and intelligent transportation systems. Samwon FA will develop the bus and urban rail infrastructure in Busan and nationwide, which we have built and currently operate, into the best next-generation system and contribute to the advancement of public transportation in Korea."
