A man in his 50s, who was charged with attacking the CEO of the virtual asset deposit service company Haru Invest with a weapon in court after the company received coins worth about 1.4 trillion won and then suspended withdrawals, has submitted a request for a psychiatric evaluation to the court.
According to the legal community on the 2nd, Mr. A's lawyer submitted the psychiatric evaluation request to the Criminal Division 12 of the Seoul Southern District Court (Chief Judge Dang Woojeung) on the 30th of last month.
Mr. A is accused of repeatedly stabbing and attempting to kill Mr. Lee, who was sitting in the defendant's seat during a trial at the Seoul Southern District Court on the afternoon of August 28.
Four executives of Haru Invest were prosecuted for fraudulently receiving coins worth about 1.4 trillion won by deceiving investors from March 2020 to June last year, claiming to guarantee the principal through risk-free operations and to provide the highest returns in the industry.
