The city explained that it passed the evaluation reflecting local government conditions such as water flow rate, leakage reduction amount and water flow volume, whether the target water flow rate is maintained after project completion, inclusion in the metropolitan area maintenance basic plan, financial independence, and growth promotion areas after the first evaluation by Gyeonggi Province, and was selected as a project target. With this project selection, the city will receive 36.8 billion KRW, which is 50% of the total project cost of 73.6 billion KRW, as national funds over six years from next year to 2030.

The selected project is the "Icheon Water Purification Plant Improvement Project" in the aged water purification plant maintenance sector. The city will invest 39.2 billion KRW, including 19.6 billion KRW of national funds, over five years to improve the water purification plant effluent treatment facility process, upgrade mechanical equipment such as sludge collectors, and reinforce intake structures.

In the aged water pipeline network maintenance project, the replacement of aged water pipelines and pipeline network maintenance in the eastern area of Icheon City, Bubal-eup, and Baeksa-myeon was selected.
