Man Wearing Sunglasses at Dawn Holding 'This'... Five Police Cars Rushed Over

Police Arrested on Charges of Special Threats

A man carrying weapons in both hands wandering around an alley in Daegu was caught by the police.

On the 30th of last month, a video titled "Five police cars in the alley in front of the house at 2 a.m.? Full police dispatch" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Korea National Police Agency'.

According to the video, the incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on the 2nd in an alley in Buk-gu, Daegu. A man wearing a mask and sunglasses was looking around while holding something in both hands.

The objects in his hands as he wandered the alley were a wooden club and a kitchen knife. Citizens who saw the man urgently reported to the police, and after receiving multiple reports that "a man carrying weapons is wandering around," the police rushed to the scene.

When the man saw the police cars arriving one after another, he threatened them with the weapons and backed away as more officers gathered. The police, preparing for any emergency, wore cut-resistant gloves and carried shields to block all escape routes.

The police calmly calmed the agitated man without making any rash moves and had him temporarily put down the weapons. When the man showed a moment of vulnerability, the police quickly removed the weapons near his feet and subdued him instantly.

The police later arrested the man on charges of special intimidation. Special intimidation refers to threatening someone while carrying a dangerous object. While general intimidation is punishable by up to 3 years in prison or a fine of up to 5 million won, special intimidation is punished more severely. Under current law, committing special intimidation can result in up to 7 years in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won.

Netizens who heard the news responded with various comments such as, "There are too many strange people in the world. I hope the treatment of police officers improves," "Taser guns should be used on criminals carrying weapons," "Because the punishment level is low, these kinds of incidents keep happening," and "It's fortunate that no victims occurred."
