15 Years of Urban Regeneration: 'Busan Urban Regeneration Continues Step by Step' Message Delivered
Busan Eurasia Platform Media Art Wall at Busan Station to Be Unveiled Offline Starting in October
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) recently released a promotional video introducing the Busan-style urban regeneration project through its official YouTube channel, "BadagaTube."
Produced to mark the 15th anniversary of Busan's urban regeneration, this 30-second video highlights the achievements of the Busan-style urban regeneration project under the theme "A Step Forward in Urban Regeneration." The video emphasizes the uniqueness of being "the nation's first and sustainable" and delivers the message that efforts are being made to make Busan a better place to live through urban regeneration projects.
As this is the first advertisement related to urban regeneration, careful consideration was given to selecting locations that would be both familiar to the general public and representative of urban regeneration. BMC featured Gamcheon Culture Village, Busan Eurasia Platform, F1963, and Haeundae Blueline Park in the video.
Gamcheon Culture Village, which began as the "Gamcheon Village Art Project" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009, can be considered the starting point of Busan's urban regeneration projects. This served as a foundation for discovering new models of Busan-style urban regeneration, such as the Happy Village Project and the Sanbok Road Renaissance Project.
The "Busan Eurasia Platform" was launched in 2019 as the nation's first urban regeneration economic base national leading project. As the starting and ending point of the Eurasian Continental Railway, connecting land and sea, it symbolizes Busan's leap forward and is also the city's largest area of floating population.
F1963 and Haeundae Blueline Park have been transformed into destinations for citizens through urban regeneration projects that repurposed abandoned factories and disused railway sites. Today, they are the largest tourist facilities in Busan and serve as key examples of public-private cooperation in urban regeneration.
The advertisement, reflecting recent media trends, was produced in a 30-second format and features Busan-born actress Chun Yeju as the model.
The video can be viewed on online promotional platforms such as BMC BadagaTube and Busan City BadaTV, as well as on the media art wall at Busan Eurasia Platform. In addition, online citizen participation events will be held to encourage public interest and engagement, and promotional activities will be expanded beyond the region through various media channels.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "This video was produced to help citizens experience the achievements of 15 years of Busan's urban regeneration projects more closely and familiarly," and added, "BMC will continue to strive to promote urban regeneration projects that citizens can truly feel."
