A Festival of Communication and Unity through Sports
Hamyang County in Gyeongnam will host the 63rd Hamyang County Residents Sports Festival on the 5th at the Public Stadium and Sports Park.
This event, organized by the Hamyang County Sports Association and supervised by member sports organizations, will bring together around 3,000 residents, athletes, and expatriates from 11 towns and townships. It will be a grand festival of unity and communication through 13 sports, including track and field, soccer, ssireum, and tug-of-war.
Celebrating its 63rd anniversary this year, the Hamyang County Residents Sports Festival selects sports that anyone can participate in and has abolished overall awards, providing a venue for healing, communication, and unity through sports.
This year's festival will begin with the lighting of the torch, which was kindled at Cheonryeongbong on October 4 and placed in the square in front of the county office, followed by a grand ignition ceremony at the Public Stadium on the 5th, officially opening the event.
The opening ceremony will feature unique introductions and entrances for each of the 11 towns and townships, a celebratory line dance performance, torch lighting, an opening address, and congratulatory speeches.
Subsequently, 10 inter-township competitions and 3 club competitions will be held at the Public Stadium and respective sports venues, offering athletic events that all residents can enjoy together.
To ensure a safe event, the county is conducting joint safety inspections of the venues in cooperation with related agencies such as the Hamyang Police Station and Hamyang Fire Station, and is thoroughly preparing to prevent any damage from the approaching typhoon by inspecting and managing facilities.
County Governor Jin Byungyeong said, "I hope everyone will enjoy the Hamyang County Residents Sports Festival, a celebration where all residents are the main characters, taking a break from their busy routines to communicate, unite, and have fun together."
