Sancheong County Wins Team Event at Gyeongnam Governor's Cup Public Officials Table Tennis Tournament

Jinju City Also Promotes Beautiful Journey Together

The Sancheong County Public Officials Table Tennis Club announced on the 2nd that they won the team championship at the "12th Gyeongnam Governor's Cup Public Officials Table Tennis Tournament" held at the Miryang Culture and Sports Center.

In this tournament, in which about 200 public officials from the Gyeongnam Provincial Government and 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam participated, Sancheong County was represented by a total of 11 players. The event was organized to promote physical fitness among city and county public officials in Gyeongnam, foster friendship and unity, and create a healthy workplace culture.

Jung Hyuncheol, head of the Sancheong County Public Officials Table Tennis Club, who achieved his first championship in this tournament, said, "Thanks to Sancheong County's excellent sports infrastructure, our players were able to improve their skills. I am pleased that this has become an opportunity to promote Sancheong, and I will continue to work to enhance our members' health through sound sports activities and contribute to the development of county administration."

Table tennis is attracting attention as a popular sport that people of all ages and genders can enjoy as a part of daily physical activities. In particular, Sancheong County established its first professional team, the Sancheong County Table Tennis Team, in 2022, and is equipped with a dedicated table tennis arena. With outstanding administrative and financial support, the county is recognized for its high level of interest and participation in table tennis among residents. Meanwhile, Sancheong County and Jinju City drew attention by sharing the title of joint champions in this tournament.

Sancheong County and Jinju City, as part of a mutual development agreement through sports exchanges, hosted the 1st Jinju-Sancheong Daily Sports Exchange last year, holding unity matches in three sports: park golf, ground golf, and gateball. They are also the first region in the country to issue a Sancheong-Jinju mutual development gift certificate. With the joint victory in the public officials' table tennis tournament, Sancheong County and Jinju City have agreed to promote a public officials' table tennis exchange match.

Both regions are striving to vitalize sports through such private-sector exchanges, and they expressed hope that these active sports exchanges will further strengthen their friendship and cooperation for mutual prosperity.
