Paju City ranked 3rd in Gyeonggi Province at the '2024 Gyeonggi Livestock Festival' and received the Encouragement Award. Paju City in Gyeonggi Province ranked third in the province and received the Encouragement Award at the ’2024 Gyeonggi-do Livestock Festival‘ sponsored by Gyeonggi Province and hosted by the NongHyup Central Association Gyeonggi Headquarters and the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Marine Products Promotion Agency.
The event also featured the ’Hanwoo Competition‘ to select the best Korean beef, where farmer Jo Young-gyun from Gwangtan-myeon, Paju City, won the Encouragement Award, once again proving Paju City's competitiveness in the livestock industry.
The ’Gyeonggi-do Livestock Festival‘ was organized to widely promote excellent livestock products from Gyeonggi Province and was held on the 27th and 28th of last month at Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park in Paju City. Various livestock-related organizations and cities and counties within the province participated to promote and offer discounts on Gyeonggi-do’s excellent livestock products and local agricultural specialties, with plenty of experiential events, food, and entertainment.
At the ‘Gyeonggi Excellent Livestock Products Tasting and Sales Area,’ tastings and special discount sales of livestock products certified with the Gyeonggi Excellent Food Certification (G-Mark) were held. Visitors could enjoy the flavor of meat by grilling it directly at the on-site ‘Grill Area.’ On the 27th, the ‘Grill Master Show’ featuring famous chef Kang Leo and popular YouTuber ‘Jeongyukwang’ was held, receiving great acclaim.
Additionally, through the Korean Pork Producers Association’s livestock product sharing event, pork worth 40 million won was donated to the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Council, delivering warm support to neighbors facing livelihood difficulties. Various other programs such as traditional liquor tasting, local snack booths, and experience zones were also operated, concluding the festival with richness.
Lee Kwang-jae, Director of the Animal Management Division, said, “With this award, we are pleased to confirm the achievements of Paju City's livestock improvement projects and its prominence in the livestock sector,” adding, “We hope this competition will serve as an opportunity for Paju’s livestock farms to evolve into livestock businesses that coexist harmoniously with citizens.”
