Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will hold the Mokdong 'Paris Park Cultural Festival (Paris in Yangcheon)' on the 5th, where residents can experience representative French culture and enjoy it together in harmony.

This festival has been expanded from the existing neighborhood-level village festival to a district-level festival, making it the largest ever held. Paris Park, created in 1987 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations, has completed renovation after 35 years and is loved as a representative community space for Mokdong residents. Reflecting this historical significance and symbolism, the district has expanded and reorganized this festival into a differentiated global cultural festival where people can learn about and experience French culture.

The festival consists of six themes: ▲Main Stage ▲Mi (味) Michelin Guide ▲Wine Festa ▲Experience Booths ▲Mok (木) Mart Square ▲Petit March?, offering a rich variety of exotic music, food, and art programs that will capture the culture and art of Paris.

The opening ceremony and congratulatory performances will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Hanbul Madang main stage. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., performances by The New Jazz Band, singer Kwon Min-je, and the Korea Wind Orchestra will follow.

The festival will be further enriched by talent donation performances from local residents, including the Yangcheon Male Seniors Choir composed of residents from Mok 5-dong, Hangaram High School's unplugged and guitar clubs. Following this, jazz band Pandora, singer-songwriter Yuval, and Seo Young-taek from 'Forte na' will perform, offering a romantic night with jazz and chanson.

At the ‘Mi (味) Michelin Guide,’ an outdoor bistro and caf? combining French cuisine and popular K-food will operate, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of foods. The Wine Festa will offer tastings of famous domestic wines and French wines.

The fountain plaza in Paris Park will be transformed into an art space called ‘Mok Mart Square,’ reminiscent of Paris’s ‘Montmartre Square.’ Here, works by artists from inside and outside the district, evoking Paris street artists, will be exhibited and sold, and an art march? featuring caricature and face painting experiences will be held.

At the experience booths set up in Hanbul Square, programs such as the French traditional game ‘P?tanque,’ cork crafts, and decorating eco-bags with French embroidery will be available. In particular, the ‘Non-Alcoholic Mojito Experience Booth’ operated by the ‘Urban Farmers’ club of Shinmok Middle School will donate all proceeds, making it a meaningful event practicing neighborly love.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “Through this festival, I hope people will once again reflect on the historical meaning and symbolism of Paris Park and have a special time experiencing French culture up close in Yangcheon-gu.” He added, “I expect this festival to be an opportunity for residents to find unique enjoyment away from their daily lives and for Yangcheon-gu to develop into a more vibrant and high-quality cultural city.”
