Chronic Disease Management and Health Habit Improvement through ‘AI · IoT-based Senior Health Management Project’
Active Promotion of Smart Device Usage Education and Outreach Using ‘Mobile Health Bus’
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is promoting the ‘AI·IoT-based Senior Health Management Project’ to help elderly citizens manage chronic diseases and develop healthy lifestyle habits without being restricted by time or place.
This project targets seniors aged 65 and older and provides customized health management remotely through the smartphone app ‘Oneul Geongang’ and smart devices, with health experts from various fields such as nurses, nutritionists, and exercise specialists participating.
Since 2021, Dongdaemun-gu has been implementing this project, registering and systematically managing more than 1,500 seniors to date.
On the 25th of last month, in cooperation with the Korea Social Security Information Service, smartphone education was conducted for seniors who are not familiar with using digital devices. Twenty-five seniors attended the training, where they learned practical smartphone skills useful in daily life, such as app installation, how to use KakaoTalk, watching YouTube, and information searching, through lectures and hands-on practice.
Additionally, Dongdaemun-gu is actively promoting the ‘AI·IoT-based Senior Health Management Project’ using the ‘Mobile Health Bus’ at locations such as Baebongsan Neighborhood Park and the Flower Garden of Knowledge. On-site, seniors who have difficulties using smartphones or health management devices receive training on how to use them, along with consultations on chronic disease management.
In particular, the ‘Healthy Meal Education Program’ aimed at effectively managing chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes provides education on forming proper eating habits and guidance on using health management devices like smartwatches, blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters, and the ‘Oneul Geongang’ app. This program is scheduled to be held every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Health Education Room on the 4th floor of the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center until November.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We plan to continue operating various programs so that seniors can easily manage chronic diseases and practice healthy lifestyle habits at home. We will keep striving for the healthy and happy later years of our elderly citizens.”
