Seoul City to Recruit 1,387 New Public Officials in 2024... 55% Women

Seoul City confirmed and announced the final successful candidates for the '2024 2nd Seoul Metropolitan Government Local Civil Service Examination' on the 2nd, with a total of 1,387 people recruited to lead Seoul's municipal administration. The proportion of women was high by gender, and the youngest successful candidate in the administrative position was born in 2006.

The final successful candidates were selected through the interview tests conducted from August to September among 1,670 candidates who passed the written test of the general 9th-grade open competitive recruitment exam held in June.

Among the 1,387 successful candidates, 1,376 are 9th-grade, and 11 are 8th-grade (nursing). By job category, there are 879 in administrative positions and 508 in technical positions. The gender composition was 616 men (44.4%) and 771 women (55.6%), with a higher proportion of women similar to last year.

By age group, those in their 20s accounted for the majority with 737 people (53.2%), followed by 508 in their 30s (36.6%), 113 in their 40s (8.2%), 27 in their 50s (1.9%), and 2 in their teens (0.1%). The youngest successful candidate among this year's passers was born in 2006, in the general administration 9th grade, and the oldest successful candidate was born in 1969, also in the general administration 9th grade.

However, the overall recruitment scale significantly decreased compared to last year. Last year, a total of 2,144 people were recruited, of which 2,139 were 9th-grade and 5 were 8th-grade. By gender, there were 990 men (46.2%) and 1,154 women (53.8%).

Seoul City conducted separate recruitment for low-income examinees apart from general applicants to expand public service opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups, and 109 people, accounting for 7.9% of this year's successful candidates, passed through this category.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Seoul City recruitment written exam, which will publicly recruit 253 people including the 7th-grade general administrative positions, will be held on November 2. A total of 13,664 people have applied, resulting in a competition rate of 54 to 1. The announcement of the final successful candidates is scheduled for January next year.
