The Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Festival will open on the 5th.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that the '2024 Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Festival' will be held from the 5th to the 8th at Hwarang Amusement Park in Ansan City and the Gyeonggi Museum of Art.
This event is jointly hosted by nine organizations including Gyeonggi Province, Ansan City, the Gyeonggi Architects Association, and the Gyeonggi Architects Society, featuring various exhibitions and experiential programs under the theme of the fusion of architecture and art. The opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on the 5th at the grand performance hall in Hwarang Amusement Park.
This year’s 'Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Festival' will focus on eco-friendly architecture, providing residents with opportunities to newly recognize the value of architecture and contemplate sustainable future architecture through various exhibitions, academic seminars, and experiential programs.
A notable program at this event is the awards ceremony and exhibition of winning works for the '29th Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Awards.'
At this award ceremony recognizing outstanding architecture in the province, Pangyo Ice Square (Haean Comprehensive Architects Office) received the grand prize in the usage approval category. Additionally, the project 'RE-NEWAL OF URBAN FABRIC' by a student from Chonnam National University won the grand prize in the planning works category.
The winning works of the Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Awards and various other contests will be exhibited at the Gyeonggi Museum of Art during the event period.
Furthermore, a 'Children’s Architecture Drawing Contest' for children interested in architecture will be held outdoors at Hwarang Amusement Park on the 5th. The theme of this contest is 'Our Future Village Creating Energy.'
Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The '2024 Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Festival' is an important event envisioning the future of architecture, and I hope it will be an opportunity for residents to feel the beauty and value of architecture through various programs and raise awareness of eco-friendly architecture."
