Application for Support Funds for Electric Vehicle Fire Prevention in Apartment Complexes Open Until October 18
50% Support up to 30 Million KRW for Relocating Charging Facilities Above Ground, Installing Thermal CCTV, and Emergency Glow-in-the-Dark Signs... Liquid-Type Fire Extinguishers Installed in Public Parking Lots to Ensure Fire Safety and Resident Protection
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will support installation costs and other expenses when relocating electric vehicle charging facilities installed in underground parking lots of apartment complexes to the ground level, aiming to prevent electric vehicle fires and create a safe residential environment.
This is to prevent the recent consecutive electric vehicle fires and to alleviate residents' anxiety and concerns.
This support is being promoted as part of the "Apartment Complex Management Support Project." The "Apartment Complex Management Support Project" provides financial support for the maintenance costs of common facilities in apartment complexes to create a safe and pleasant residential environment.
Selected apartment complexes can receive support for 50% of the total project cost, up to a maximum of 30 million KRW. The district expects that this will not only help create a safe residential environment but also ease the financial burden on apartment complexes struggling with facility maintenance costs.
The support includes measures to prevent fires in charging facilities installed in underground parking lots, such as ▲relocating charging facilities to the ground level ▲installing fire-resistant walls in underground parking lots ▲installing thermal imaging closed-circuit (CCTV) cameras for fire prevention ▲installing and replacing emergency bells ▲installing evacuation guidance lights and phosphorescent signs in underground parking lots.
The support target is apartment complexes with 20 or more households. Apartment complexes wishing to receive support must submit the required documents specified in the announcement to the Housing Department by visiting in person or by mail by October 18. Afterwards, the district will review the documents and conduct on-site inspections to select the supported apartment complexes by November.
Additionally, the district conducted a fire safety inspection on 47 public parking lots and installed 51 liquid-type fire extinguishers approved by the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute.
It is expected that this will enable initial response in case of a fire in electric vehicles.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Protecting the safety and lives of residents is the most important principle and mission of local governments,” and added, “We will implement thorough fire prevention measures and establish infrastructure so that residents can use electric vehicles and charging facilities with peace of mind and convenience.”
