Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, "Will Do Our Best to Create a Trustworthy Traditional Market"

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su)'s Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market was selected as an excellent market in the '2024 Seafood Origin Labeling Excellent Market Contest' hosted by the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

This contest was implemented to boost the pride of merchants who are obligated to label the origin of seafood and to increase the compliance rate of origin labeling, thereby creating a market where customers can use with confidence.

The evaluation consisted of a first round of document screening and a second round of on-site inspection, selecting excellent markets based on compliance with origin labeling, market participation, management proactiveness, and the market's hygiene and cleanliness conditions.

To be selected as an excellent market, Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market held consultations on origin labeling work with the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service and Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation starting from March 2024.

In addition, various efforts were made to comply with origin labeling, including special inspections of origin labeling, case studies of excellent markets, self-production and distribution of origin labeling boards, and filming promotional videos for origin labeling educational materials.

Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market, selected as an excellent origin labeling market, held a plaque ceremony on September 30 and posted the excellent market plaque at the market entrance. Furthermore, it received a prize of 5 million KRW from the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "The selection of Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market as an excellent seafood origin labeling market is the result of the merchants' active efforts to establish a transparent distribution order," and added, "Mapo-gu will continue to provide support and attention to create a market that residents can trust."

Mapo-gu is doing its best to promote various policies such as traditional market facility modernization projects, market management package projects, and food culture support projects to revitalize traditional markets and neighborhood commercial districts.
