Sharing Locations of Areas Prone to Frequent Disasters
Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held a 'Typhoon Kraton Response Situation Assessment Meeting' presided over by District Chief Jeong Hyunseop, as Typhoon No. 18 'Kraton' is forecasted to affect Korea.
At the meeting held on September 30, Chief Jeong instructed all staff to share information on the major damage areas in Jinhae-gu during the extreme heavy rain that occurred from September 20 to 21, and to actively respond by focusing monitoring activities on those areas in the event of disasters such as typhoons.
He also requested proactive measures by sharing future weather conditions such as the scale and path of the typhoon, strengthening monitoring of vulnerable areas such as landslide risk zones, steep slopes, and river flooding-prone regions, and conducting preemptive inspections of facilities such as drainage channels, pumping stations, and manholes in areas prone to frequent flooding.
Chief Jeong said, "As the risk of flooding in low-lying coastal areas, strong winds, high waves, swells, and heavy rainfall increases during typhoons, we are putting our utmost effort into safety management to prevent damage in advance," and added, "We will establish a thorough safety network to protect the lives and property of our residents."
