Professor Jung Yeonsik of Yeungnam University Department of Urban Engineering Named Among World's Top 2% Researchers

Professor Jung Yeonsik (52) from the Department of Urban Engineering at Yeungnam University announced on the 1st that he has been selected as one of the world's top 2% researchers in each academic field, according to a list published by Stanford University in the United States based on Elsevier's Scopus database.

The world's top 2% researchers in each academic field are those who are in the top 2 percentile among global researchers who have published at least five papers in one of 22 major subjects and 174 subfields. This assessment is conducted using six key indicators, including career-long achievements, the number of citations for each researcher's papers in the past year, the number of published papers, and the number of single-author papers, all based on Scopus, the indexing and citation database of the global publishing company Elsevier.

This year, the results using Scopus data compiled up to August 1, 2024, were announced on September 17. Among them, Professor Jung was selected as one of the top 2% researchers in the world in the field of Logistics and Transportation. There are only two domestic researchers included in the top 2% in this field, and among them, only one, Professor Jung, is recognized in the 'Transportation' field, making him the sole top 2% researcher in this area in Korea.

Professor Jung received his Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 2007 and has been serving as a professor in the Department of Urban Engineering at Yeungnam University since 2016. He mainly conducts educational and research activities in areas such as traffic safety, mobility big data, and autonomous vehicles.
