Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation Reaches Its Climax... Strengthening Exchange and Cooperation with Dubai and Promoting Busan's Appeal
Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Global City Foundation, together with the 'Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation,' held the 'Busan Is Good for You! Busan Festa in Dubai' event at the outdoor plaza of Dubai Festival City Mall from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM local time on the 29th.
This urban brand promotion event in Dubai marked the climax of the 'Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation's' itinerary, which is visiting four cities in three countries to strengthen cooperation with sister and friendship cities and establish a new foundation for urban exchanges.
The 'Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation' departed from Busan on September 20, visited Kazakhstan (Almaty), Uzbekistan (Tashkent and Samarkand), and arrived in Dubai, Busan's sister city and the final destination, on September 28.
The delegation is comprised of university students, cultural artists, and businesspeople from Busan, and is tasked with widely promoting 'Global Hub City Busan' abroad by visiting Busan's overseas sister cities and conducting cultural and economic exchange events.
The event featured a variety of side programs and prize giveaways, including performances by the Busan Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra and a Taekwondo demonstration team, traditional games and Taekwondo experiences, kids' activities, and food tasting.
Specifically, the event proceeded in the following order: ▲ Opening performance by the Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra ▲ Opening ceremony (7:30 PM - opening remarks, welcome speech, congratulatory address, declaration of opening, commemorative photo) ▲ Taekwondo demonstration ▲ Fountain show, and more.
Additionally, K-pop cover dance performances, random dance play, and a K-Quiz were repeated two to four times until 11:00 PM, lighting up the vibrant night in Dubai.
The event was attended by Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, city council members, and officials from the Dubai city government.
Officials from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai, the Dubai office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), as well as over 2,000 Korean residents and Dubai citizens, participated and enjoyed the event together.
Jung Chaesook, Busan City Council member and head of the Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation, said, "After a long 10-day journey, I arrived in Dubai having grown together with the young delegation members. I am very proud of our talented Busan youth who have faithfully fulfilled their role as urban diplomacy envoys, and I would also like to thank the citizens of Dubai who welcomed our delegation with bright and friendly smiles."
Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, emphasized, "Busan and Dubai, which became sister cities in 2006, share the commonality of having achieved rapid development in a short period based on the world's largest ports, and are recognized by leading global media as attractive tourist cities. I hope this festival has introduced the charm of Busan to the citizens of Dubai and served as an opportunity to share friendship as sister cities."
