Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 30th that the Uijeongbu branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations (hereinafter Uijeongbu Yesuchong) held the '2024 Uijeongbu Arts Festival' at the Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation (Uijeongbu Arts Center) exhibition hall and small theater on the 28th.
The 2024 Uijeongbu Arts Festival was sponsored by the city and hosted and organized by the Uijeongbu branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations (Chairperson Lee Mi-sook).
On that day, from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM, a photo exhibition (Exhibition Hall 1), an art exhibition (Circular Exhibition Hall), and a poetry and painting exhibition (Exhibition Hall 2) were held at the exhibition halls. Citizens visiting the exhibition halls had a special experience viewing the photo exhibitions by photographers, various artworks by artists, and poetry and painting exhibitions by literary artists all in one place.
The opening ceremony held at the small theater at 6:00 PM featured city poetry recitations, collaborative creative dance, traditional dance, Korean traditional music (gugak), classical music, popular song performances, short film screenings, and a raffle. Any Uijeongbu citizen could enter on a first-come, first-served basis and enjoy the high-quality performances by local artists without any burden.
Chairperson Lee Mi-sook said, “Going forward, Uijeongbu Yesuchong will devote itself to artistic creation and strive to activate and balance various fields (genres) of art and culture,” adding, “We promise to present art that communicates closely with citizens, art that soothes the human heart, and art that gives inspiration and lingering emotions from multiple perspectives.”
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We will work together with local artists to create Uijeongbu as a cultural city where people can enjoy art in their daily lives,” and added, “I thank the local artists who created an excellent arts festival with a small budget. Next year, we will support the festival so that it can be held under even better conditions.”
Uijeongbu Yesuchong plans to continuously organize various programs to provide opportunities for all generations of citizens to harmoniously enjoy culture and arts and leisure activities. Furthermore, it plans to create occasions where local artists and citizens come together to perform or hold exhibitions, fostering integration between them.
