On the 30th, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi announced that it donated 1.82 million KRW earned from operating a popup store selling Kkeukkeu & Naknak character goods at the Gwangneung Forest Festival to the Namyangju Welfare Foundation.

Earlier, as requests for sales of the city’s SNS characters ‘Kkeukkeu’ and ‘Naknak’ goods continued, the city operated a popup store at the Gwangneung Forest Festival held from the 28th to the 29th to promote the characters and gauge demand for the goods.

At this popup store, the city showcased bag keyring dolls, stuffed dolls, character magnets shaped like Kkeukkeu and Naknak, attracting great interest from various age groups.

To repay citizens’ interest in Kkeukkeu & Naknak goods, the city decided to use all 1.82 million KRW of the sales proceeds to help neighbors in need.

A Namyangju city official said, “Through this event, we achieved increased citizen interest and recognition of ‘Kkeukkeu & Naknak.’ Therefore, we decided to donate the 1.82 million KRW proceeds to express gratitude to citizens and convey the message that anyone can participate in donation and sharing.”

Meanwhile, in June, the city produced and distributed a children’s exercise song called ‘Kkeukkeu & Naknak Song’ using Kkeukkeu and Naknak, and from October 3 for four days, it plans to operate a character photo zone for children at the 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo held in Namyangju.
