Jowon Office Building Explores Role as Hub for Professional Research Activities of Faculty
Discussion on Plans for AI-Based Integrated Teacher Competency Support System Construction
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) held the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Education Research Association Workshop’ on the 30th to foster an autonomous research atmosphere among teachers.
This event was organized to strengthen teachers' execution capabilities of Gyeonggi education policies and to explore directions for collaborative research activities.
Attendees included Director Oh Chan-sook of the Talent Development Bureau, staff members in charge, and 153 presidents of the 2024 Gyeonggi Education Research Associations.
The main agenda included ▲sharing preliminary survey results for revitalizing the research associations ▲guidance on the operation of Gyeonggi Education Research Association Sharing Day ▲a special lecture by the Director of the Talent Development Bureau ▲and sharing cases of research association operations. In particular, ways to utilize the soon-to-be-renovated Jowon Office Building as a central space for faculty research activities were also discussed.
The Provincial Office of Education operates a total of 153 Gyeonggi Education Research Associations (hereafter referred to as research associations) to realize Gyeonggi teachers who learn and research together based on teacher autonomy. Additionally, to support substantial research associations, a professional mentoring group composed of 26 on-site teachers is also operated.
Each research association selects diverse and distinctive research topics such as ▲activation plans for AI digital textbooks using ‘Hi-Learning’ ▲discovering excellent cases of regionally customized shared schools, and conducts research activities. Especially in the 2024 academic year, the common research topic ‘Support Measures for Growth of New and Low-Experience Teachers’ has been selected for various studies.
In his special lecture, Director Oh Chan-sook introduced future plans such as the establishment of an AI-based integrated teacher competency support system, stating, “Field-centered research activities by teachers are the foundation for transforming school education. The Provincial Office of Education will also actively strive to establish the Jowon Office Building as a cradle of professional research capabilities for teachers.”
Meanwhile, the Provincial Office of Education plans to hold a ‘Performance Sharing Expo’ in December, where all 153 research associations will participate to share their research results.
