Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 30th that the newly renovated Cactus Botanical Garden will reopen starting October 1st.

The Goyang Cactus Botanical Garden is a facility built in 2001 within Lake Park, housing over 6,800 cacti and succulent plants, including rare cacti such as Caralluma and Geumho.

From the end of last year until September this year, the city replaced the glass of Greenhouse No. 1 and remodeled part of the lobby. Old signage was replaced, and plants were rearranged to improve the viewing environment through facility maintenance.

As a follow-up project, the city plans to create a cactus complex cultural space, introducing a new cactus succulent planterior space to enhance content for visitors. Exhibition commentary programs, plant-related experience programs, and a cafeteria will also be operated to increase visitor satisfaction.

A city official stated, “We expect the Goyang Cactus Botanical Garden to develop into a central facility for culture, education, and experiential activities in our region.”
