Mayor Lee Dong-hwan: "Administrative Efforts Focused on Swift Resident-Customized Pilot District Reconstruction"
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 30th that the application submission for the selection of the lead district in the aging planned city of Ilsan New Town was completed by the 27th.
Following the call for applications for the selection of the lead district in Ilsan New Town, which began on June 25, a total of 22 locations, including Gangchon Village (Zone 38) and Baekma Village (Zone 40), applied. The total number of units applied for was 30,000, which is five times the city's standard volume of 6,000 units (maximum 9,000 units).
The 22 locations that applied are divided by region into 14 in Ilsandong-gu and 8 in Ilsanseo-gu. By housing type, there are 11 apartment complexes, 10 multi-family housing complexes, and 1 mixed-use residential-commercial complex.
The selection of the lead district is based on the detailed evaluation criteria (quantitative evaluation) specified in the city’s public notice, with selection made in order of highest scores. Adding the additional 3,000 units to the standard volume of 6,000 units, the total redevelopment volume is expected to reach a maximum of 9,000 units.
The city plans to verify the submitted application documents and resident consent rates by October, proceed with the evaluation process, and finalize the selection in consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in November.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “Ilsan New Town, a first-generation new town, is over 30 years old and severely aging, and residents have great interest in reconstruction projects and lead districts. Starting with the lead districts selected through this call for applications, we will focus administrative efforts on the urban spatial recreation of Ilsan New Town and do our best to create a pleasant residential environment through systematic, resident-tailored reconstruction.”
