Grand Prize in Video Category for Upper Elementary Students
Ungsang Youth After-school Academy in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, received the Grand Prize in the upper elementary school video category at the '2024 Early Childhood and Youth Smoking Prevention Contest' held at Post Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 27th.
The '2024 Early Childhood and Youth Smoking Prevention Contest' was hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Promotion Institute. The contest aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and foster a culture of smoking prevention and cessation, especially in a situation where children and adolescents may develop misconceptions about tobacco and be easily exposed to smoking due to tobacco industry marketing.
A total of 2,862 diverse works were submitted by August 30, and outstanding entries were selected and awarded.
The work from Ungsang Youth After-school Academy, titled 'Secret Friend,' won the Grand Prize in the upper elementary school video category with the theme of raising awareness about the dangers and easy accessibility of electronic cigarettes.
The youth from Ungsang Youth After-school Academy expressed, "We are deeply moved that our work received such a prestigious award, and we hope this video helps raise awareness about the dangers of electronic cigarettes. We dedicate this honor to Yangsan City and Soju Youth Culture Center for their continued support of excellent video production programs."
