2024 Pocheon-si World Citizens Day Global Festival Successfully Concluded The 2024 Pocheon Global Citizens Day Festival was held on the 29th.

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 30th that it held the 2024 Pocheon Global Festival for the Day of the World Citizens of Pocheon under the slogan "We are one" on the 29th at Pocheon City Sports Complex and the outdoor parking lot, with over 2,000 participants including both foreigners and locals.


The event featured a variety of celebratory activities starting with a World Parade and pre-ceremony performances, followed by a commemorative ceremony, a cheerful sports day, traditional world performances, talent shows, and congratulatory performances. Additionally, about 40 experience booths were operated where attendees could enjoy traditional games and the traditional foods and cultures of various countries. The festival also included a world food tasting event featuring dishes from 13 countries, foreigner consultation support, CPR training, workplace accident case experiences, health checks, and traditional games, providing enjoyable food and entertainment for both locals and foreigners to share together.


During the world folk performance of this event, traditional dances and songs from countries such as India, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, and Bangladesh were presented, creating a moment where everyone became one.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "Regardless of nationality, we are all neighbors living together in Pocheon now. Pocheon City will make more active efforts to ensure that foreign residents can live harmoniously within the local community," receiving enthusiastic applause from the attending foreign immigrants.


Singhaje, Chairman of the Pocheon Foreign Residents Representatives Council, expressed in his congratulatory speech, "We thank Mayor Baek Young-hyun for hosting the Global Festival to create a place of harmony where we foreigners can enjoy together, and we foreigners will also contribute to the development of the local community as members of Pocheon citizens."


Ilseon Lee, Head of the Family and Women’s Division of Pocheon City, stated, "Since the opening of the Pocheon Foreign Residents Support Center on August 1st, we will continue to promote policies closely related to the lives of foreign residents."
