Water Rust Occurrence Area in Houses Over 20 Years Old Approximately 39 Pyeong or Less... Applications Accepted Until December
Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) is investing a budget of 56 million KRW to carry out the "Rust-Free Home Water Pipe Improvement Project" by the end of this year.
According to Gapyeong-gun on the 30th, the "Rust-Free Home Water Pipe Improvement Project" is a program aimed at supplying healthy and clean tap water to Gapyeong residents who experience inconvenience in daily life due to rust coming from old water pipes in aged houses.
The support targets are communal and detached houses over 20 years old with rust occurrence areas of 130㎡ (approximately 39.4 pyeong) or less. The project supports construction costs for replacing indoor water supply facilities (indoor water pipes, shared pipes). The support amount varies according to the area per household: up to 1.8 million KRW for indoor water pipes and up to 600,000 KRW for shared pipes. For rust occurrence areas of 60㎡ or less, 90% of the total construction cost is supported; for 85㎡ or less, 80%; and for 130㎡ or less, 30% is supported.
For houses owned by basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, the entire construction cost is covered. However, houses that have received approval for redevelopment, reconstruction, remodeling, or have been improved with support within the last five years are excluded from support.
The application period is until the end of December, but the program may close early if the budget is exhausted. To apply, applicants must prepare the application form and other documents posted on the Gapyeong-gun Office website and submit them in person at the Waterworks Office of the county office.
Lee Kyung-woo, head of the Waterworks Office, said, "Residents who suffer inconvenience due to rust in old water pipes are encouraged to apply for support to replace old pipes and use clear water," adding, "We will continue to do our best to supply clean water so that all residents can use safe and clean tap water."
