SK Group is selling SK Specialty, the world's No.1 company in the semiconductor specialty gases sector, to Hahn & Company.
On the 30th, SK Inc. announced, "We have selected Hahn & Company as the preferred bidder for the sale of SK Specialty shares," adding, "We plan to negotiate the main contract terms with the preferred bidder and finalize the contract."
Earlier on the 13th, SK Inc. conducted a preliminary bidding process for SK Specialty, its 100% subsidiary, targeting multiple potential buyers. The market estimates the sale price of SK Specialty to be around 4 trillion KRW. Last year, the company recorded sales of 681.7 billion KRW and an operating profit of 147.1 billion KRW.
As part of the group’s portfolio rebalancing (restructuring), this sale is expected to help SK reorganize its business structure and reduce debt. Earlier this month, SK also secured 270 billion KRW in cash by selling a 7.1% stake in Wincommerce, a distribution specialist subsidiary of Vietnam’s Masan Group.
