High School Girl Murdered, Suspect Flees Barefoot
Review on Disclosure of Personal Information on the 30th
Amid the decision on June 30 regarding the disclosure of personal information of Park Mo (30), who is accused of killing a teenage female student with a weapon in downtown Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, footage has captured Park wandering barefoot and smiling after the crime.
On June 30, YTN released CCTV footage taken around 1 a.m. on the day of the incident, June 26, showing Park, dressed in black, walking barefoot near an alley close to Suncheon Sinhung Elementary School. YTN reported that this footage was taken 13 minutes after Park chased and killed the high school girl with a weapon.

The footage shows Park turning his head sideways and smiling broadly. Later, intoxicated, Park wandered the streets and got into an argument with a passerby before being arrested by police who responded to a report around 3 a.m., approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes after the incident. Following the release of the footage, netizens reacted with comments such as "This is chilling," "He lowers his posture exactly when stabbing with the weapon?how can this be considered diminished capacity due to intoxication?" "Having the judgment to run away from a man is not diminished capacity," "If it were diminished capacity, would he have chosen a girl? He picked an easier target to overpower," and "Drunkenness should be punished more severely."
Earlier, around 12:44 a.m. on June 26, Park, who was heavily intoxicated, came out of the restaurant he operated carrying a weapon and is accused of stabbing and killing Ms. A (18) on the streets of Jorye-dong, Suncheon City. Park had closed his delivery food business two months prior due to poor sales and had been drinking daily at the restaurant. On the day of the incident, he reportedly chased Ms. A, who was passing by, for about 800 meters while intoxicated before committing the crime.
Police, considering the possibility of a random murder, are investigating whether the crime was premeditated and plan to request a psychiatric evaluation, including reviewing Park’s medical records. Additionally, the police will hold a personal information disclosure committee meeting in the afternoon to deliberate whether to disclose Park’s name and face. According to the current "Act on the Disclosure of Personal Information of Suspects in Specific Serious Crimes," if conditions such as the cruelty of the method, serious damage, sufficient evidence to believe a crime was committed, the public’s right to know, and public interest are met, the suspect’s personal information can be disclosed. Meanwhile, Ms. A, who was attacked while returning after seeing off a friend, recently passed the qualification exam and was an only daughter preparing to become a police officer, according to reports.
