Jungnang-gu Holds 104th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for Yu Gwan-sun at Mangu History and Culture Park

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held a memorial ceremony on the 28th at the Mangwoo History and Culture Park, at the joint grave site of Yu Gwan-sun, to commemorate the 104th anniversary of her martyrdom.


The ceremony was co-hosted with the Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Association, and about 100 people attended, including Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi, members of the Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Association, members of the National Assembly, city councilors, district councilors, the head of the Seoul Northern Veterans Affairs Office, the president of the Liberation Association Jungnang-gu branch, bereaved families, and local residents.


The event proceeded in the order of a memorial address, condolence speeches, flower offering, reading of memorial writings, a traditional Korean music choir performance, leaving memorial messages, and three cheers for victory.


Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said, “We pay our respect and tribute to Yu Gwan-sun, a symbol of the March 1st Movement and an undying spirit of our nation,” adding, “We will cherish the Mangwoo History and Culture Park, which holds our history including that of Yu Gwan-sun, and enhance its historical and cultural value.”
