LG announced on the 29th that it is operating a program to train artificial intelligence (AI) experts, providing practical education and support to teenagers and young adults.
LG recently held the final round of the 'LG Aimers Hackathon' over one night and two days at the LG Inhwa Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. The hackathon featured 27 teams and 104 young participants who passed the online preliminary round held throughout August. Finalists developed AI models to improve real-time production quality using data collected from LG Electronics factories, gaining hands-on experience.

After the hackathon, LG will select the final award-winning teams and hold an awards ceremony in October. All finalists will receive scholarships totaling 100 million KRW, and the grand prize and excellence award-winning teams will receive 10 million KRW in prize money and exemption from document screening when applying for employment.
The day after the hackathon, LG held a job fair involving five affiliates: LG AI Research Institute, LG Electronics, LG Household & Health Care, LG Uplus, and LG CNS. Participants had the opportunity to consult with recruitment specialists and register in the LG AI talent pool.
LG launched 'LG Aimers' in the second half of 2022 to provide educational opportunities for young people interested in AI. The program runs every summer and winter vacation. To date, more than 12,000 people have participated.
LG also operates the 'LG AI Youth Camp,' a program for teenagers. This educational social contribution project, in cooperation with Seoul National University, supports teenagers in experiencing the process of solving everyday problems with AI.
The second cohort of participants for this year is being recruited until October 31. Outstanding participants in the domestic education program will have the opportunity to participate in educational programs held at Stanford University and Silicon Valley in the United States.
As of this year, any teenager from 6th grade in elementary school to 2nd grade in middle school can apply, and participation is completely free. Students wishing to participate must submit an application on the website and then film and submit a video showing how they solve everyday problems using AI.
Through these educational programs, LG plans to continuously support teenagers and young adults in gaining practical experience in the AI field.
