The personal information of a man in his 30s who murdered a teenage high school girl with a weapon in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, is spreading online.

Recently, as public outrage over the Suncheon high school girl murder case grew on online communities, the perpetrator Mr. A (30)'s name, photo, and SNS accounts were disseminated. Citizens visited his SNS accounts to leave critical comments or demanded the police to disclose his identity.

After it was revealed that Mr. A works in the food service industry, his restaurant's review board was bombarded with negative ratings. The review tab was filled with comments such as "murderer," "close your business and atone through death," and "live the rest of your life in pain." It is known that police tape has been placed around the restaurant, and there are traces of eggs thrown by citizens who had visited the establishment.

The Suncheon Police Department in Jeollanam-do has booked and is investigating Mr. A, in his 30s, on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl. Mr. A is accused of stabbing an 18-year-old female, Ms. B, multiple times with a weapon on a street in Jorye-dong, Suncheon City, around 12:44 a.m. on the day of the incident, and then fleeing. Ms. B was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but ultimately passed away.

The CCTV footage released by JTBC on the 26th shows a man wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt swinging his right arm back and forth while walking down the street. He follows a woman and suddenly swings a weapon. Mr. A continued to wield the weapon even after Ms. B collapsed, but fled when a bystander approached. The witness said, "I chased after him because the young woman was screaming. When I asked if anyone knew the man, they said 'no.' Then she said, 'Please save me,' and lost consciousness."

According to the police investigation, Mr. A drank alone at the restaurant he runs until just before the crime, then took a weapon and chased Ms. B, who was walking on the street, committing the crime. After the crime, he wandered the streets intoxicated and got into an argument with a passerby around 3 a.m., and was arrested by police who responded to the report. He was not carrying the weapon during the argument with the passerby.

The police investigation confirmed that Mr. A wandered about 1.5 km for approximately two hours in an intoxicated state from the time of the crime until his arrest. A weapon presumed to have been used in the crime was found in a parking lot along the route he wandered.

The relationship between Mr. A and the victim has not been identified, and the police are investigating with the possibility of a "random attack" targeting a victim with whom he had no prior acquaintance in mind. Mr. A's pre-trial detention hearing will be held on the 28th at the Suncheon branch of the Gwangju District Court.
