Even Woo Won-sik said, "The proposer of the election bill disrespected the authority of the chairman"
Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, claimed that the Democratic Party's rejection of the appointment of Han Seok-hoon, a nominee for the National Human Rights Commission, was the result of a loyalty competition to Lee Jae-myung and described it as Lee Jae-myung-style infinite retaliation politics.
On the 27th, at a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Choo said, "The Democratic Party retaliated against candidate Han as a grudge for criticizing their retaliatory impeachment against the prosecutors investigating Lee Jae-myung."
At the plenary session of the National Assembly held the previous day, the proposal to elect Lee Suk-jin, former Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family, as a standing member of the Human Rights Commission, recommended by the opposition party, was approved with 281 votes in favor, 14 against, and 3 abstentions out of 298 members present. However, the proposal to elect Han Seok-hoon, recommended by the ruling party, was rejected with 119 votes in favor, 173 against, and 6 abstentions out of 298 members present.
Through prior consultations between the ruling and opposition floor leaders, it was agreed to elect one person each from the ruling and opposition party nominations, but the People Power Party claims that the Democratic Party overturned this principled agreement.
Floor Leader Choo fiercely criticized, saying, "The Democratic Party broke the agreement between the ruling and opposition parties and rejected the appointment of candidate Han," and accused them of "using deception in negotiations."
He continued, "They threw away even the minimum trust, which is the basis of dialogue and negotiation between parliamentary negotiating groups, like a discarded object. This is a breach of promise between the ruling and opposition parties, fraud and foul play by the Democratic Party, and destruction of parliamentary politics." He added, "According to media reports, at the Democratic Party's party meeting, it is said that members were incited to cast rejection votes on the grounds that the ruling party's recommended candidate uttered the absurd claim that the impeachment of the prosecutors investigating Lee Jae-myung is a destruction of the rule of law."
Regarding Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, he said, "I would like to speak to Speaker Woo, who still seems to think he is a member of the Democratic Party," and claimed, "The Democratic Party has insulted the authority of the Speaker, who proposed the election proposal."
Regarding the 'Broadcasting Four Acts (amendments to the Broadcasting Act, Broadcasting Culture Promotion Act, Korea Educational Broadcasting System Act, and Korea Communications Commission Act)', which were finally discarded the previous day, the Special Measures Act for the Payment of Livelihood Recovery Support Funds (25,000 KRW support for all citizens), and the amendments to Articles 2 and 3 of the Labor Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act (Yellow Envelope Act), he attributed significance by saying, "The People Power Party united as one to block these evil laws that shake the foundation of South Korea's liberal democracy and market economy."
He warned, "No matter how much the Democratic Party pushes through bad laws that kill livelihoods and ruin the country without bipartisan agreement, the People Power Party will unite tightly as one to block them."
