Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will hold a non-face-to-face walking challenge called 'Walking Whenever You Can 2' for citizens who possess the local currency Bucheon Pay card from the 1st to the 31st of next month.
Citizens who wish to participate in the event can join the official Bucheon City community 'Wise Walking Life' on the smartphone app 'WalkOn' and then participate.
The city plans to provide 10,000 KRW worth of Bucheon Pay to 3,145 citizens on a first-come, first-served basis who achieve 200,000 steps (up to 10,000 steps per day recognized) over 31 days by participating in the challenge. A Bucheon City official said, "The scorching heat has passed, and the walking-friendly season of autumn has arrived," adding, "We expect that the walking challenge will help citizens maintain their health and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through the provision of Bucheon Pay."
