Dongjak-gu to Distribute Passport Cases with Character Design for Free Starting the 27th

Dongjak-gu to Distribute Passport Cases with Character Design for Free Starting the 27th New passport case created by Dongjak-gu. Provided by Dongjak-gu.

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 27th that it will distribute passport cases featuring the Dongjak-gu character design to citizens receiving passports.

The district decided to produce and distribute unique Dongjak-gu passport cases to prevent contamination and damage to the electronic chip in e-passports and to reflect the increasing trend of overseas travelers. The passport cases are made of soft material to enhance grip, and the back features the popular Dongjak-gu characters ‘Dongjaki and Gukhwassi,’ promoting the district as well.

After receiving passport applications, the district will provide the cases along with promotional materials for the next-generation e-passports to visitors. However, the cases will be distributed only while supplies last.

Meanwhile, since July, the district has been operating a ‘Priority Passport Service Counter’ for socially considerate groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, and people with severe disabilities.

The number of passports issued by the district doubled from 24,152 in 2022 to 46,753 in 2023, and as of the first half of this year, it reached 20,066, surpassing last year’s issuance volume. The priority service counter has received great responses from users.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, “We will strive to provide optimal services to citizens,” adding, “We hope you share the excitement of your first overseas trip with Dongjak-gu.”
