Fire at Goyang Logistics Warehouse Construction Site... Property Damage Over 650 Million Won

Firefighters are extinguishing a fire.

At around 11:18 PM on the 26th, a fire broke out at a logistics warehouse construction site in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province.

The fire burned approximately 3,900㎡ of the basement first floor of the building, which has four floors above ground and one basement floor, causing property damage estimated at about 650 million won. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Upon the outbreak of the fire, the fire authorities issued a Level 1 response alert (a warning involving 3 to 7 fire stations deploying 31 to 50 pieces of equipment) and conducted firefighting operations, extinguishing the major flames in about 4 hours and 20 minutes.

The fire authorities expect that it will take more time to completely extinguish the flames.

The police and fire authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Following the fire, Goyang City sent out two disaster alert messages stating, "A large amount of smoke is being emitted due to a fire at the Seolmundoong construction site. Residents in nearby areas are advised to close windows and take safety precautions."
