Old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building 'Treasure Hunt' Registered in Guinness Book... To Be Held Again This Year

Old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building 'Treasure Hunt' Registered in Guinness Book... To Be Held Again This Year Poster of Gyeonggi-do's 'Real Treasure Festival'

Gyeonggi Province will hold the ‘Real Treasure Festival,’ a treasure hunt using smartphones, again this year around the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office area, following last year. This is a measure to revitalize the local commercial district, which has been stagnant due to the relocation of the provincial government office to Gwanggyo New Town.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it will hold the Real Treasure Festival using smartphones from October 12 to 16 around the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office area in Paldal-gu, and is recruiting participants until October 7.

The province held the first event last November, which attracted about 3,000 participants and was registered in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest treasure hunt event.

Gyeonggi Province is preparing a larger-scale event than last year with diverse content so that the Real Treasure Festival can establish itself as a representative festival of the province.

In particular, Gyeonggi Province will offer various immersive experience programs that are more engaging than traditional treasure hunts, such as ‘Dungeon Treasure Hunt,’ where participants interact with professional actors in the usually closed Chungmu Facility (bunker), and ‘Find the Treasure Thief!’ where clues obtained from on-site attachments are used to catch treasure thieves.

Participants can find over 100 digital treasures hidden around the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office and the Paldalsan Dullegil trail through various games utilizing digital immersive technology.

In accordance with the ‘Gyeonggi Province Ordinance on ESG Practice for Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Events’ enacted this year, the province has diversified the three ESG contents?Environment, Social, and Governance?to make this event a model case of ESG practice projects in Gyeonggi Province.

Advance reservations for the festival can be easily made by scanning the QR code on the festival poster using a smartphone or by running the ‘RealWorld’ app.

Park Yeon-gyeong, Director of the Social Innovation Economy Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We hope that the ‘Real Treasure Festival,’ which has established itself as a representative event of Gyeonggi Province, will revitalize the nearby area that has been depressed due to the relocation of the provincial office." She added, "We will operate permanent treasure hunt content in the social innovation space to be created at the old provincial government office so that residents can experience the social innovation space and positively recognize social value."

Meanwhile, since the Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters moved in on the 8th, Gyeonggi Province is promoting remodeling to accommodate social innovation spaces, archives, data centers, and public institutions.
