Goyang-si Holds 'Science High School Establishment TF Team Council'

Full-Scale Establishment of Science High Schools Including Discussions on Evaluation Indicators and Public Application Roles

Goyang Special City held a meeting of the Goyang Science High School Establishment TF Team at the Goyang Office of Education on the 25th to designate a new science high school.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) held a TF team meeting for the establishment of Goyang Science High School at the Goyang Office of Education on the 25th to initiate concrete discussions for the designation of a new science high school.

At the meeting, Kim Jae-kyung, Director of Education, Woo Ho-sam, Director of Administration, and Kim Sang-yong, Director of School Support from the Goyang Office of Education, along with related departments responsible for the establishment of the science high school?including the Goyang City Lifelong Education Division, Secondary Education Support Division, Planning and Management Division, Financial Management Division, and Educational Facilities Division?attended to discuss evaluation criteria for the science high school and the roles of each institution in the application process.

The meeting focused intensively on the direction and schedule for preparing the application, especially on each party’s role regarding the evaluation criteria for the science high school, and shared strategic response plans for the application procedures.

A city official stated, “Starting with this TF team meeting, we plan to continuously hold meetings to submit the optimal application by November.”

Meanwhile, the city has been accelerating efforts for the designation of a new Gyeonggi-type science high school by conducting a survey to collect residents’ opinions from the 23rd until October 20th.
