Abolishment of Residency Period Requirement, Possible Regardless of Residency Days if Address is in Gwangjin-gu
Up to 90% Refund on Out-of-Pocket Expenses for Extended Service Users
Applicable to Mothers Giving Birth After October 2024... Apply at Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is expanding the "Postpartum Mother and Newborn Health Care Service Support Project" to alleviate the economic burden on families with newborns.
First, the residency period requirement has been abolished. Previously, only mothers who had lived in Gwangjin-gu for more than six months were eligible to apply, but now the eligibility has been expanded to include mothers or their spouses who have their resident registration in Gwangjin-gu. However, to prevent duplicate benefits, the newborn must be registered as born in Gwangjin-gu.
Additionally, users of the "extended type" service will now be able to receive refunds on their out-of-pocket expenses according to the service period. Previously, support was calculated based on the "standard type," but starting this year, the same criteria apply, allowing refunds of up to 90% of the amount paid.
The changes apply to mothers who give birth on or after October 1, 2024. If they apply within 60 days after receiving the service, they can receive support covering up to 90% of their out-of-pocket expenses, with a maximum limit of 1 million KRW.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Women's Health Counseling Office at the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center or by mailing the required documents, including payment receipts and a copy of the bankbook. Detailed information is available on the Gwangjin-gu District Office website.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "We have relaxed the eligibility requirements so that families who give birth in Gwangjin-gu are not excluded due to residency period. We will focus on creating policies that reduce economic burdens and strive to create an environment that is good for having and raising children."
The "Postpartum Mother and Newborn Health Care Service" is a project where professionally trained health care workers visit families with newborns to assist with postpartum care. It supports the mother's health recovery, child care, and household activities to alleviate difficulties experienced after childbirth.
