Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, is having a conversation with a delegation from major local governments in China at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office on the 25th.
Gyeonggi Province is set to expand exchanges with major local governments in China.
On the 26th, Gyeonggi Province announced that Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, met with a delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Chen Li (陳立), Director of the Foreign Affairs Management Bureau, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office on the 25th to exchange views on revitalizing exchanges and strengthening win-win cooperation between Gyeonggi Province and major local governments in China.
The delegation consisted of representatives from Guangdong Province (廣東省), Gyeonggi Province’s sister region; Shanghai City (上海市), China’s economic capital; Chongqing City, the only directly governed municipality in western China; and Zhejiang Province (浙江省), the birthplace of Alibaba and the hub of China’s e-commerce industry.
They engaged in broad discussions on promoting exchange projects and expanding the scope of exchange relations between Gyeonggi Province and major local governments in China.
Deputy Governor Kim Seong-jung said, "I am pleased to meet Director Chen Li (陳立), who oversees China’s local diplomacy, along with key figures in local diplomacy from various provinces and cities. Gyeonggi Province is the largest local government in South Korea, accounting for 27% of the country’s population and 25% of its GDP. More than 80% of the added value in South Korea’s semiconductor industry is generated in Gyeonggi Province, so there is great potential to expand cooperation with Chinese local governments in advanced industries."
Earlier in April, Hao Peng (?鵬), Party Secretary of Liaoning Province (遼寧省), the hub of trade in northern China and Gyeonggi’s first exchange region in China, visited Gyeonggi Province and signed an agreement to deepen exchange and cooperation. In June, Xin Changxing, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province, China’s second-largest economy and the largest investment region for Korean companies in China, visited the province and signed a sisterhood agreement. Gyeonggi Province is actively working to develop Korea-China relations through high-level dialogues and cooperation with leadership from major local governments in China.
