Return to European Tour After 10 Months

'LIV Golf Champion' Jon Rahm (Spain) will participate in a DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) event.
He will compete in the Spanish Open (total prize money $3.25 million), which opens on the 26th (local time) in Madrid, Spain. Since joining LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabian capital, last December, this is Rahm's first DP World Tour event in 10 months since the Tour Championship last November. He has participated in major tournaments and the Paris Olympics this year but has not appeared in any events solely organized by the DP World Tour.
Rahm aims to participate in DP World Tour events to qualify as a European representative for the 2025 Ryder Cup. He must play in at least four DP World Tour events this year. Rahm is also scheduled to compete in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (total prize money $5 million) in October and the Andalucia Masters (total prize money $3.25 million). Since the Paris Olympics this year count as one event, Rahm can meet the minimum participation requirement of four events.
The DP World Tour imposed fines on Rahm for missing events after he transferred to LIV Golf. Before resolving this fine issue, his participation in DP World Tour events was not permitted. However, Rahm appealed this decision, and the DP World Tour allowed him to compete until a conclusion is reached on the matter. Besides Rahm, Patrick Reed (USA), also affiliated with LIV Golf, will participate in this Spanish Open. Korean player Kang Sung-hoon will also compete.
