Networking for Aspiring, Early-stage, and Senior Entrepreneurs and Investors
Pusan National University Technology Holdings (CEO Kang Jungeun, Director of Pusan National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Professor of Urban Engineering) is hosting the 'PNU Tech Biz Week 2024' event at the PNU AVEC, the university's startup culture platform, from the 25th to the 27th to promote the spread of university-driven startup culture and to facilitate exchanges among promising (prospective) startups.
Now in its fourth year, the event is themed with the slogan 'Value-up High!' to signify 'Enhancing new value and opening up greater challenges and possibilities.' It is set up as a festival where aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage startups can take their first steps onto a broader stage.
This year, in particular, the event is even more meaningful as it includes the regular networking event and capacity-building training for technology commercialization personnel of the 'PIUM Technology Commercialization Center,' which was launched last year. This expands the scope of the event from a Pusan National University-centered startup festival to a true celebration involving universities from the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region.
The PIUM (Pulling Innovation of University in Busan TLO Motivation) Technology Commercialization Center is a key institution established as part of the 'University Creative Asset Utilization Support Project (BRIDGE 3.0),' supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, to drive motivation and innovation among TLOs in universities in the southeastern region.
This event features themed days over three days: 'Pre Start-up Day' for prospective entrepreneurs and startups in the early stages, 'Super Rookie Day' for Pusan National University student startups and early-stage startups, and 'Next Unicorn Day' for Pusan National University Technology Holdings subsidiaries, invested companies, and investment stakeholders.
A rich lineup of programs will be presented, including: ▲Startup Seminars ▲Startup Counseling Talk Show 'Open Antenna' ▲IR Demo Day ▲Challenge! IP Golden Bell ▲University Startup Achievements Promotion Hall ▲PNU Growth Engine Networking, and more.
The 'Startup Seminar,' where senior entrepreneurs share their experiences and know-how, will feature three sessions this year: 'Stories of Success and Failure from Senior Entrepreneurs,' 'Startup Marketing and Promotion Strategies,' and 'MBTI Organizational Management.' Speakers include Choi Byunghyuk, Vice President of Portlogics (an import-export specialist company), Jung Minjun, CEO of Onggolchansaramdeul (a local content production company), and Yoon Jongse, Director of Thebom Education Design Lab.
'Open Antenna' is a panel talk show addressing startup challenges. Panelists include Wang Seungmin, labor attorney at The One Labor Law Firm, and Cho Soonghee, attorney at DLG Law Firm, who will discuss HR, labor, and legal issues, while Song Jeongwoong, CEO of LiveX, and Kim Kibum, Director at DailyShot, will share insights on investment.
Pusan National University is hosting an Open Antenna (a startup consultation talk show) at PNU Tech Biz Week.
Additionally, 'IR Demo Day' offers prospective entrepreneurs the chance to practice IR pitching and receive feedback, while providing early-stage and outstanding startups with opportunities for company promotion and investment attraction.
'Challenge! IP Golden Bell' is a quiz program for students, designed to raise awareness of the need to create, utilize, and protect excellent intellectual property rights, and to highlight the importance of technology commercialization based on these rights.
Other highlights include the Pusan National University Outstanding Startup Achievements Promotion Hall, PNU Growth Engine Networking, AVEC Haewuso·Open Meet-up, and a photo box, all providing valuable information and serving as a networking platform for startups.
Kang Jungeun, CEO of Pusan National University Technology Holdings, stated, "Through the annual startup event, I am reminded once again of our role as I feel the passion and energy of entrepreneurship," and added, "We will actively support promising startups so that they do not stagnate but instead find new breakthroughs."
