KakaoTalk Student ID Strengthens Exclusive Benefits for University Students with Starbucks

Kakao announced on the 26th that it has strengthened exclusive benefits for university and graduate students in collaboration with SCK Company, which operates Starbucks.

These benefits can be accessed through the Starbucks application. Users who verify their status as enrolled university or graduate students using the KakaoTalk Student ID will be issued a 'Starbucks Student Card,' which offers various exclusive benefits for one year.

First, a 50% discount coupon for three popular Starbucks beverages (Grapefruit Honey Black Tea, Java Chip Frappuccino, Cool Lime Fizzio) will be provided. Additionally, a 30% off coupon for handcrafted beverages, usable every Tuesday afternoon, can be used once a week. There is also a coupon for a free size upgrade to Venti size drinks, provided twice a month, once per month, offering tailored benefits for students' lifestyles.

Moreover, the design incorporates Kakao Friends intellectual property (IP) to provide users with a special experience. The card features the popular Kakao Friends character Chunsik wearing a university jacket and enjoying various aspects of campus life.

Kim Gwiyeon, Performance Leader of Kakao Platform Services, said, "We worked closely with Starbucks to provide useful and differentiated benefits to university students," adding, "We plan to continue discussions on ways to offer more attractive benefits and services to university students and diverse users through collaboration with Starbucks."

Meanwhile, the KakaoTalk Student ID is a student identification service provided through the KakaoTalk Wallet. Its popularity stems from the ability to enjoy various benefits with simple verification, surpassing one million cumulative issuances within one year of its launch.
