Strengthening Collaborative Research Infrastructure in Specialized Basic Science Fields
Education and Research Synergy... Utilization of Facilities and Equipment, Talent Development
The Pusan National University G-LAMP (LAMP) Project Group (headed by Professor Jeong Jaehoon of the Department of Molecular Biology) and the National Institute of Fisheries Science signed an MOU on the 25th at the Gaonnarae Hall of the university museum to promote the development of marine and fisheries science and technology.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will establish a mutual cooperation system in various areas, including ▲ joint research in the fields of climate change, marine environment, and fisheries bioresources ▲ shared use of research facilities and equipment ▲ exchange of research personnel and collaboration in talent development ▲ academic activities and information exchange, all aimed at advancing marine and fisheries science and technology.
In particular, based on the expertise and research infrastructure in basic science possessed by both institutions, they agreed to collaborate in diverse fields such as responding to climate change, addressing marine microplastics issues, investigating occurrences of hypoxic water masses, conducting joint surveys of marine resources, and researching high-value functional materials utilizing fisheries bioresources.
Choi Jaewon, President of Pusan National University, stated, "This agreement will serve as an important turning point for our university and the National Institute of Fisheries Science to look toward the future and take a step forward together," adding, "We will make joint efforts to create synergy in the development of education and research in the marine and fisheries sectors."
Choi Yongseok, President of the National Institute of Fisheries Science, expressed his expectations, saying, "I hope that the two institutions will achieve tangible results in various research fields, such as developing utilization technologies for responding to climate change and protecting the marine environment and fisheries resources, through their cooperation."
The Pusan National University G-LAMP (LAMP) Project Group has so far been actively promoting mutual exchange through agreements with domestic companies and research institutes related to earth, marine, and atmospheric sciences, such as Fishcare, Genlife, and the Pusan National University Humanoid Olfactory Display Center.
