Following this, Minsoo Kim, deputy editor at Dong-A Science, will chair a discussion with presenters including Hyungjun Cha, professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at POSTECH, Jaewon Ko, reporter at Maeil Business Newspaper, and Kyungjin Ahn, reporter at Seoul Economic Daily, sharing opinions on the development trends of the latest biotechnology and ways to disseminate research achievements.
Medical and science reporters such as Hanju Yoo (Yonhap News), Chaerin Lee (Dong-A Science), Mingyu Jo (ZDNet Korea), and Areum Hong (Chosun Biz) will engage in a comprehensive discussion with biotechnology researchers attending the academic conference to brainstorm how to expand science reporting in Korean society.
President Yoo emphasized, “Science journalists serve as a bridge connecting the scientific community and the public,” adding, “Since the source of good science reporting comes from the scientific community and researchers, the role of expert communicators who provide sufficient explanations to journalists is very important.” He also added, “The media session held together with the Korean Society for Biotechnology is significant in that it seeks ways to expand scientific communication jointly between field researchers and the media.”
