Kim Oksuk and Noh Soyoung Also Summoned
The list of witnesses and reference persons for the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's national audit, including First Lady Kim Geon-hee, was adopted solely by the opposition party on the 25th.
On that day, the general witnesses and reference persons approved at the full meeting of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee were 100 individuals requested by Democratic Party lawmakers. The ruling People Power Party protested the opposition's unilateral adoption of witnesses and left the meeting room just before the vote.
The Democratic Party requested First Lady Kim as a witness for the national audit on the 21st and 25th of next month, citing reasons related to "the Dior bag receipt, the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, and the nomination interference case."
On the 7th, the Democratic Party also selected First Lady Kim as a witness for the hearing on the "petition for the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol," but she did not appear.
The Democratic Party also summoned former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-seon and Myung Tae-gyun, key figures in the nomination interference allegations, as witnesses. They were requested to appear a total of four times. Former lawmaker Kim and Mr. Myung are also on the witness list for the Public Administration and Security Committee's national audit.
Former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Im Seong-geun, former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop, and former Black Pearl Investment CEO Lee Jong-ho, who were summoned multiple times to the National Assembly regarding allegations of investigation interference in the Cha Sang-byeong line-of-duty death case, were also included on the witness list.
The Democratic Party has listed prosecutors Kim Young-cheol and Park Sang-yong, who are preparing for impeachment, as general witnesses, and prosecutor Eom Hee-jun as an institutional witness.
Former President Roh Tae-woo's wife Kim Ok-sook, son Roh Jae-heon, director of the East Asia Culture Center, and daughter Roh So-young, director of the Art Center Nabi, were selected as witnesses under the pretext of "Roh Tae-woo slush fund related" matters.
The 39 witnesses and reference persons requested by the People Power Party were excluded from the list adopted that day.
This list includes Moon Da-hye, daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, as well as key figures involved in the Daejang-dong development scandal linked to Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, such as former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Planning Director Yoo Dong-gyu and lawyer Nam Wook.
A Legislation and Judiciary Committee official said, "Since it was difficult to reach an agreement on the witness list, we processed the Democratic Party's proposal for now," adding, "The ruling party's list is expected to be adopted at the next full meeting."
